  • Virna Jandiroba will face MacKenzie Dern in a rematch for the vacant UFC womenโ€™s strawweight title on Oct. 25 in the UAE.
  • Jandiroba is the +110 betting underdog.
  • Dern is the -130 betting favorite.

The stakes will be higher in the upcoming rematch between Virna Jandiroba and MacKenzie Dern, as they will go head-to-head for the vacant UFC womenโ€™s strawweight title in the co-main event of UFC 321 on Oct. 25 inside Etihad Arena in the UAE.

Because she won their first meeting in December 2020, Dern will be the slight betting favorite with -130 UFC odds, while Jandiroba is the +110 betting underdog despite her current five-fight win streak, which dates back to May 2022.

UFC 321: Jandiroba vs. Dern 2: Prediction

I predict a unanimous decision victory for Dern against Jandiroba in this rematch. In this battle of submission specialists, they cancel each otherโ€™s grappling, and the match is expected to stay on the feet.

Although their first match happened almost five years ago, their fighting styles remain the same, with Dern using her striking skills to inflict damage and look for a potential finish using a variety of combinations.

Meanwhile, Jandiroba utilizes her striking skills to lure opponents into overextending, setting up takedown attempts to take the fight to the ground. She doesnโ€™t fully commit to exchanging strikes.

Dern can push Jandiroba against the fence and pressure her throughout the fight. Even if Jandiroba forces a grappling exchange, it wonโ€™t be a problem for Dern since sheโ€™s also an elite grappler with a solid Brazilian jiu-jitsu background and can defend takedowns and submission attacks.

Virna Jandirobaโ€™s Recent Fight Results

Jandiroba was an undefeated fighter and a former Invicta FC champion when she was signed by the UFC in 2019. She suffered a decision loss in her octagon debut to Carla Esparza, but quickly bounced back with consecutive victories over Mallory Martin and Felice Herrig.

After those two wins, she was pitted against Dern in December 2020 and suffered another decision loss. Then, the Brazilian contender won six of her next seven bouts and is currently on a five-fight win streak.

MacKenzie Dernโ€™s Recent Fight Results

Dern was also an LFA and Invicta standout before she earned a roster spot in the UFC in 2018. She won her first two matches before Amanda Ribas handed her a loss in October 2019. A four-fight win streak followed after that loss to Ribas, including her first win over Jandiroba.

But the American MMA star has split her last eight bouts, with victories over Tecia Pennnginton, Angela Hill, Loopy Godinez, and Ribas (in their rematch last January), while her losses were courtesy of Marina Rodriguez, Yan Xiaonan, Jessica Andrade, and Amanda Lemos.
