The bantamweight clash between ranked UFC contenders Sean O’Malley and Song Yadong will co-headline the UFC 324 card on Jan. 24, which goes down inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

As the former titleholder in the 135-pound weight class, O’Malley heads into the match as the betting favorite with -210 UFC odds, while Song, who won three of his last four fights, is going to be the betting underdog with +170.

UFC 324: Sean O’Malley vs. Song Yadong: Prediction

I predict a TKO/KO finish for O’Malley against Song since he’s very good at using all his reach and leg reach advantages when fighting another striker. Unlike his two previous fights with Merab Dvalishvili, O’Malley won’t have to worry about wrestling and takedowns.

Aside from utilizing his physical attributes, O’Malley is also a very good counterpuncher. With Song’s forward pressure and aggressive style, the former UFC bantamweight king will be happy to welcome him and time a perfect counter whenever he overextends.

Song has also struggled against other elite strikers in the division, as evidenced by his losses to Cory Sandhagen and Petr Yan. If his fight plan is to stand and trade with O’Malley, he might get stopped, but if he decides to employ some grappling and wrestling, it will be a different story.

Sean O’Malley’s Recent Fight Results

O’Malley is a former UFC bantamweight champion, and defended his belt once before Dvalishvili ended his reign in September 2024. In his most recent fight, he challenged Dvalishvili in a rematch, but came up short with a third-round submission defeat.

Song Yadong’s Recent Fight Results

Song is a veteran UFC contender who has been with the promotion since 2017. In his past five matches, he scored wins against Ricky Simon, Chris Gutierrez, and Henry Cejudo. Meanwhile, he dropped his fights with Sandhagen and Yan.
