No. 15-ranked UFC bantamweight contender Farid Basharat will welcome promotional newcomer John Garza inside the octagon at UFC 329, as they’re set to collide on Saturday inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Due to his unblemished pro MMA record, Basharat is going to be a heavy betting favorite with -650 UFC odds. Meanwhile, Garza, who already has one pro loss, will be the considerable betting underdog with +475 odds.

UFC 329: Farid Basharat vs. John Garza: Prediction
A submission win for Basharat over Garza is my prediction, mainly because he’s the better grappler and Garza’s aggressive striker fighting style fits his grappling-heavy approach. Basharat can time a perfect level-change and shoot for a takedown.
Once Basharat secures a takedown, he instantly works on several submission maneuvers until his opponents make a mistake. One excellent trait he has is the patience to grind out his opponents until they’re exhausted.
Lastly, the biggest catalyst for this match for me is the short-notice acceptance of Garza for this fight. He stepped in on late notice to face Basharat. Though it could be a double-edged sword if Garza fights like he has nothing to lose.
Farid Basharat’s Recent Fight Results
Basharat earned his place in the rankings of the 135-pound weight class by winning his first six bouts under the promotion. His UFC wins were against Da’Mon Blackshear, Kleydson Rodrigues, Taylor Lapilus, Victor Hugo, Chris Gutierrez, and Jean Matsumoto.
John Garza’s Recent Fight Results
Garza is an emerging MMA contender outside the UFC. He’s currently on a five-fight win streak outside the promotion, with wins against Nicholas Gjelaj, Armando Zuniga, Kevin Rosas, Marcelo Reyes, and Josh Walker.
