UFC Abu Dhabi: Rizvan Kuniev vs. Tyrell Fortune: Prediction
I predict a decision win for Fortune over Kuniev, as he’s the better westler/grappler. Kuniev likes to stand and bang against his opponents to flaunt his Wushu Sanda background, which is a striking-heavy form of martial arts.
With the collegiate wrestling experience of Fortune, I believe he’ll be able to take Kuniev down and control him for the majority of the fight. Kuniev is a very mobile heavyweight with one-punch knockout ability, so the only way Fortune can counter these is to shoot for takedowns.
Even if Fortune takes Kuniev down, I don’t think he’ll be able to get a submission finish or a TKO/KO finish because the Russian contender is a tough and durable fighter. I think he’ll be able to survive the ground-and-pound strikes of Fortune.

Kuniev was a former Eagles Fighting Championship titleholder before he won two Dana White’s Contender Series wins to secure a UFC contract. He has split his two bouts under the promotion with a loss to Curtis Blaydes and a win over Jailton Almeida.

Fortune was a former Bellator and PFL contender who also captured the Lights Out Xtreme Fighting and RUF titles. He made a successful octagon debut in March, where he unanimously beat Marcin Tybura at UFC Seattle.
