Steve Erceg defends his place in the flyweight rankings against Ramazan Temirov, as they are set to collide in the co-main event of UFC Abu Dhabi on Saturday inside Etihad Arena on Yas Island, UAE.

Both fighters head into the match with the same UFC odds of -110, even though Erceg was the former title challenger and Temirov has split his two fights under the Las Vegas-based promotion.

UFC Abu Dhabi: Steve Erceg vs. Ramazan Temirov: Prediction

My prediction is a submission win for Erceg over Temirov because he’s the better grappler. Temirov is a striking-heavy fighter who relies on his power, combination, and timing. I think Erceg will grapple with him for the majority of the fight.

Erceg knows that Temirov can put any contender’s lights out with a single strike and that the only way to nullify it is to take him down and gas him out. Temirov hasn’t fought a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt in his UFC career, and Erceg could post takedown threats against him.

I think Erceg will lure him to an early striking exchange before forcing a clinch battle and eventually a takedown. With Erceg’s elite and sneaky submissions, he’ll be able to catch Temirov in one of the transitions and lock in a submission finish.

Steve Erceg’s Recent Fight Results

Erceg was the former Eternal MMA titleholder and former UFC title challenger. However, he has only recorded two wins in his last five bouts. His victories were against Ode’ Osbourne and Tim Elliott, while he dropped the other three to Alexandre Pantoja, Kai Kara-France, and Brandon Moreno.

Ramazan Temirov’s Recent Fight Results

Temirov was a standout in the Rizin Fighting Federation before the UFC signed him in 2023. He competed in two fights inside the octagon and won against C.J. Vergara (via first-round stoppage) and Charles Johnson (via decision).
