The featherweight battle between ranked contenders Steve Garcia and David Onama will headline the UFC Fight Night card on Nov. 1 inside the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.ย

Both are riding their respective win streaks heading into this showdown, but Garciaโ€™s longer streak has made him the betting favorite with -135 UFC odds. Onama, on the other hand, is going to be the +110 betting underdog.

  • Davia Onama: +110

UFC Fight Night: Garcia vs. Onama: Prediction

I predict a TKO/KO finish for Garcia in this featherweight battle because heโ€™s the better striker and more experienced fighter than Onama. The output and volume of Garcia could overwhelm Onama into a stoppage victory.

Garcia does a great job of utilizing his full length against his opponents, and heโ€™ll have the height, reach, and leg reach advantages again in this bout. His best attack is the one-two punch combination he throws when he lunges forward.

This combination catches his opponents off guard. Also, he has a great oblique kick that targets his opponentโ€™s legs. Lastly, Garcia likes to press his opponents on the back foot while throwing his striking combinations.

Meanwhile, Onama relies on his punching power because, undoubtedly, he has the one-punch knockout power. He also has very capable grappling skills, evident when he took down Giga Chikadze multiple times and controlled him in his previous fight.

But Garcia has tremendous takedown defense, and I think heโ€™ll successfully defend the takedowns to keep the fight on the feet. Once he rocks Onama with his combinations, Garcia will surely go for a TKO/KO finish.

Steve Garciaโ€™s Recent Fight Results

Garcia was signed by the UFC through Dana Whiteโ€™s Contender Series in August 2019 when he stopped Desmond Torres in the opening round. He made his octagon debut against Luis Pena in March 2020 but lost via decision.

Since then, Garcia won seven of his next eight bouts, with victories against Charles Ontiveros, Chase Hooper, Shayilan Nuerdanbieke, Melquizael Costa, SeungWoo Choi, Kyle Nelson, and most recently, Calvin Kattar.

David Onamaโ€™s Recent Fight Results

Onama was an undefeated prospect when he joined the UFC in October 2021. But in his debut fight in the promotion, he suffered a decision loss to Mason Jones. Following that setback, he won six of his last seven fights.

During this run, he has scored wins over Gabriel Benitez, Garrett Armfield, Gabriel Santos, Jonathan Pearce, Roberto Romero, and, most recently, Chikadze. His lone defeat in this stretch was courtesy of Nate Landwehr.
