The battle of heavyweight hitters will be featured in the UFC Freedom 250 card, as Josh Hokit faces Derrick Lewis on Sunday at the White House’s South Lawn.

Because of his perfect MMA pro record, Hokit heads into the showdown as the heavy betting favorite with -450 UFC odds, while Lewis will be the +340 betting underdog.

UFC Freedom 250: Josh Hokit vs. Derrick Lewis: Prediction

I predict a TKO/KO win for Hokit over Lewis, as he’s the younger and more explosive athlete. At 41, Lewis is well beyond his prime, but the one-punch knockout power is still with him. However, Lewis will have a hard time landing it given Hokit’s speed advantage.

Hokit can also draw on his wrestling background to give Lewis different looks and neutralize his power. Hokit used this wrestling against Curtis Blaydes to carve out a decision win, and there’s a reason why he can use it again against Lewis.

But ultimately, Hokit should get a TKO/KO finish since Lewis tends to cover up when he gets hurt, and he doesn’t fire back. Once Lewis shells up, Hokit can rain down combinations, either on the feet or on the ground, to secure the victory.

Josh Hokit’s Recent Fight Results

Hokit was a product of Dana White’s Contender Series in August, where he defeated Guilherme Uriel via second-round finish. Then he swept his three assignments in the UFC with wins over Max Gimenis, Denzel Freeman, and Blaydes.

Derrick Lewis’ Recent Fight Results

Lewis is a UFC veteran who has been with the organization since April 2014 and was a former title challenger. He won three of his last five bouts, with victories over Marcos Rogerio de Lima, Rodrigo Nascimento, and Tallison Teixeira. His two losses were courtesy of Jailton Almeida and Waldo Cortes Acosta.
