Two welterweight prospects will make their promotional debut on Saturday, as Ding Meng and Jose Henrique look to leave a lasting impression at the UFC Macau card inside the Galaxy Arena.

Heading into the match, Ding will be the slight betting favorite with -120 UFC odds, while Henrique, who currently rides a three-fight win streak, is going to be the slight betting underdog with +100 odds.

UFC Macau: Ding Meng vs. Jose Henrique: Prediction

Despite Henrique’s 6-inch reach advantage, I still predict a decision win for Ding due to his aggressive approach and pro experience. Ding likes to control the center of the cage and forces his opponents to fight backward, putting their backs against the fence.

This fighting style by Ding can easily nullify Henrique’s reach advantage and allow him to land his striking combinations at the most comfortable distance he prefers. Henrique has the option to take him down, but I think Ding can telegraph that because of his long arms.

Furthermore, Ding has more pro fights than Henrique, which means he can easily adjust his fight plan on the fly and fight accordingly with what’s presented to him. Henrique, on the other hand, is still too young for the bright lights of the octagon.

Ding Meng’s Recent Fight Results

Ding was a former A1 Combat titleholder before the UFC took notice and signed him to a contract. In his last five bouts, he scored three wins (Qi Wang, Kuerbanjiang Tuluosibake, and Mirali Huseynov) and absorbed two losses (Tuluosibake and Rami Hamed).

Jose Henrique’s Recent Fight Results

Henrique is a young MMA prospect from Brazil and has only dropped one pro fight in his career. His victories were against Leonardo Andrade, Sadraque De Freitas, Lucas Prestes, Carlos Eduardo, Pedro Oliveira, Alan Silva, Alexandre Silva, and Porfirio Alves Jr. His lone career defeat was to Yusaku Kinoshita.
