UFC Macau: Jake Matthews vs. Carlston Harris: Prediction

As the better grappler, I predict a submission victory for Matthews over Harris. Matthews is a savage submission artist who jumps into submission techniques swiftly and capitalizes on them until he gets a tap out of his opponent.

Although Harris is a better striker than Matthews, the powerful left hook of Matthews should be taken seriously, as it can put any contender to sleep when landed cleanly. Matthews is also a pressure fighter and forces his opponents to fight on the back foot.

I believe Matthews will immediately go for a takedown, since Harris also has enormous power in his hands. If Matthews doesn’t secure a submission finish, he’ll be ahead on the judges’ scorecards en route to a decision win.

Jake Matthews’ Recent Fight Results

Matthews is a UFC veteran who has been with the UFC since 2014. In his last five fights, he recorded three wins against Phil Rowe, Francisco Prado, and Chidi Njokuani. His losses were courtesy of Michael Morales and Neil Magny.

Carlston Harris’ Recent Fight Results

Harris was a former Brave CF titleholder before signing with the UFC in 2021. In seven octagon fights, he racked up four wins (Christian Aguilera, Impa Kasanganay, Jared Gooden, and Jeremiah Wells) and three losses (Shavkat Rakhmonov, Khaos Williams, and Santiago Ponzinibbio).
