UFC Macau: Song vs. Figueiredo: Prediction
My prediction is a TKO/KO victory for Song over Figueiredo, as he’s the more powerful and accurate striker. Although Figueiredo is the better grappler, I think Song’s takedown defense will be good enough to stop takedowns and prevent submissions.
If Song can defend takedowns against Henry Cejudo, who’s a former Olympic medalist, I think he’ll be able to stop the takedowns from Figueiredo. With the takedowns neutralized, the match is expected to be a stand-up affair, and Song’s striking is much better than Figueiredo’s.
Another major factor to consider in this match is the age gap: Song is only 28 and at the peak of his pro career, while Figueiredo is already in the sunset of his career at 38. The explosiveness and athleticism of the former flyweight champion have faded significantly, and Song can take full advantage of it.
