UFC Mexico: Édgar Cháirezvs. Felipe Bunes: Prediction

Because of his outstanding boxing skills and overall better striking, I predict a unanimous decision win for Cháirez over Bunes. Both are vicious submission artists on the ground, but I think both will be cautious to take the fight down the mat.

As Cháirez and Bunes cancel each other’s grappling, the striking of Cháirez will surely shine on exchanges, especially when he lets go of his hands. Stiff jabs and atomic hooks are the best weapons of choice for Cháirez, and I think he’ll be able to clip Bunes several times.

Bunes doesn’t have heavy leg kicks, which is why he won’t be able to slow Cháirez’s movement and power. Unless he forces a grappling battle and ends up on top of Cháirez, I don’t see him winning the striking showdown in this fight.

Édgar Cháirez’s Recent Fight Results

Cháirez was a former Combate Global titleholder before he joined Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022. He was defeated by Clayton Carpenter in the competition, but was still signed by the UFC in 2023. In his five fights in the octagon, he won against Daniel Lacerda and CJ Vergara, lost to Tatsuro Taira and Joshua Van, and had a no-contest with Lacerda in their first meeting.

Felipe Bunes’ Recent Fight Results

Bunes was the former LFA champion before the UFC added him to the roster in 2024. In his first three bouts in the promotion, he scored a victory against Jose Johnson; however, he lost to Van and Rafael Estevam.
