Former UFC bantamweight title challenger Marlon Vera looks to snap his three-fight losing streak against surging contender David Martinez in the co-headliner of the UFC Mexico card on Saturday, which goes down inside Arena CDMX.
Because of his three-fight skid, Vera heads into the showdown as the betting underdog with +220 UFC odds; meanwhile, Martinez, who currently rides a two-fight win streak in the UFC, is going to be the betting favorite with -275 odds.

UFC Mexico: Marlon Vera vs. David Martinez: Prediction
My prediction is a unanimous decision win for Martinez over Vera, as he’s the faster fighter. This speed is key to landing more significant strikes, especially the kicks. Both are fantastic strikers, and although Vera is the taller, longer athlete, Martinez’s quickness will nullify that advantage.
Martinez is a quick starter in fights and is aggressive against his opponents. His best attack is the head kick, which catches opponents off guard because he fires it so quickly. He’s also very disciplined defensively and doesn’t expose himself to counters.
Meanwhile, Vera is a very tactical fighter who reads his opponent and adjusts his fight plan as the fight progresses. However, this often leaves him behind on the judges’ scorecards because he becomes aggressive in the latter stage of a fight.

Vera is a UFC veteran who once fought for the UFC bantamweight title. In his last five fights inside the octagon, he only recorded one win against Pedro Munhoz and dropped the other four to Cory Sandhagen, Sean O’Malley, Deiveson Figueiredo, and Aiemann Zahabi.
