UFC flyweight contenders Tim Elliott and Steve Erceg are looking to improve their place in the division’s rankings, as they’re scheduled to face each other in the main card of UFC Perth on Saturday at RAC Arena in Australia.

Both are coming off victories in their previous bouts, but Elliott is going to be the betting underdog with +185 UFC odds. On the other hand, Erceg will be the betting favorite with -225 odds.

UFC Perth: Tim Elliott vs. Steve Erceg: Prediction

My prediction is a unanimous decision win for Erceg, as he’s the better striker and has decent takedown defense to counter Elliott’s grappling. At this point in Elliott’s career, he’s a step slower and doesn’t have the same pop in his striking.

There’s no doubt Elliott will have the edge in grappling, but he doesn’t fully impose this unless his opponents commit mistakes. With the technical and measured approach of Erceg’s, I don’t think he’ll overextend and get caught with a takedown.

Furthermore, Elliott’s fighting stance has his hands down most of the time, leaving him vulnerable to Erceg’s top-notch boxing skills. I wouldn’t be surprised if Erceg scores multiple knockdowns, but the experience of Elliott will propel him to finish the fight.

Tim Elliott’s Recent Fight Results

Elliott was a former UFC title challenger and has been with the promotion for over a decade. He recoded four wins in his last five fights, defeating Kai Asakura, Sumudaerji, Victor Altamirano, and Tagir Ulanbekov. His only loss was courtesy of Muhammad Mokaev.

Steve Erceg’s Recent Fight Results

Erceg was a former Eternal MMA titleholder before the UFC signed him in 2023. In his last five fights, he has only won two (Matt Schnell and Ode Osbourne) and lost the other three (Alexandre Pantoja, Kai Kara-France, and Brandon Moreno).
