The first MMA event of Most Valuable Promotions will be headlined by the women’s featherweight match between Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano on Saturday inside Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

With her stacked credentials as a former UFC champion, Rousey heads into the match as the considerable betting favorite with -580 MMA odds, while Carano, who last fought in 2009, is going to be the +425 betting underdog.

Rousey vs. Carano: Prediction

My prediction is a submission victory for Rousey over Carano, as she’s the better grappler and the younger fighter. Rousey is expected to maximize her Judo background to take Carano down the mat and neutralize her strikes.

Even though Rousey hasn’t fought in the last decade, she has still been active with her tenures in the WWE, which helps her keep in shape. Rousey’s strength and skills are still on point, while Carano has been retired for 16 years.

If Rousey secures an early takedown in the opening round, I think she’ll be able to control Carano and maneuver to her favorite submission, which is the armbar. This has been Rousey’s bread and butter technique even in her prime.

Ronda Rousey’s Recent Fight Results

Rousey was a former Strikeforce and UFC champion before her last fight in 2016. In her last five bouts inside the octagon, he racked up three wins over Alexis Davis, Cat Zingano, and Bethe Correia, while her losses were courtesy of Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.
