The showdown between ranked women’s flyweight contenders will be witnessed this Saturday at UFC Seattle, as Casey O’Neill takes on Gabriella Fernandes at the Climate Pledge Arena.

Both are coming off wins in their previous bouts, but O’Neill is going to be the slight betting underdog with -105 UFC odds, while Fernandes is going to be the slight betting favorite with -115 odds.

UFC Seattle: Casey O’Neill vs. Gabriella Fernandes: Prediction

My prediction is a unanimous decision win for Fernandes over O’Neill mainly because of the slight speed advantage and the more technical approach she has. Fernandes was a bit hesitant to throw her combinations against Julija Stoliarenko due to the threat of takedowns, but O’Neill also likes to throw hands on the feet.

Without the threat of takedowns, I think Fernandes will throw a lot more strikes in this fight and attack the body of O’Neill. Once O’Neill moves her hands down to defend the punches and kicks to the body, Fernandes can fire head kicks and one-two combinations down the middle to inflict significant damage.

Casey O’Neill’s Recent Fight Results

O’Neill was a former Eternal MMA titleholder before the UFC signed her in 2021. In her last five fights, she won over Antonina Shevchenko, Roxanne Modafferi, and Luana Santos, while losing the other two to Jennifer Maia and Ariane Lipski da Silva.

Gabriella Fernandes’ Recent Fight Results

Fernandes was the former LFA champion when the UFC signed her to a contract in October 2022. In her first five matches in the octagon, she recorded wins over Carli Judice, Wang Cong, and Stoliarenko. Her losses were courtesy of Jasmine Jasudavicius and Tereza Bleda.
