Being the UFC Champion is the primary reason fighters compete inside the Octagon. Climbing the rankings, earning the right to be the number one challenger, and eventually conquering the MMA odds and defeating the reigning titleholder is the ideal route for most athletes on the roster.

But along the way, there are unprecedented achievements or milestones these fighters attain.

Today, we dive into six UFC records set by different fighters throughout the sport’s history.

Most Wins

Jim Miller holds the most wins in UFC history with 27. He appeared in 44 UFC fights.
These wins by Miller were in the lightweight division, where he began competing in October 2008. He won 19 of those 27 via stoppage, either through TKO/KO or submission.

Most Finishes

The most finishes in UFC history belong to Charles Oliveira, with 21, and he tops Jim Miller (19) and Donald Cerrone (16).

Oliveira appeared in 37 UFC bouts and won 25 of them. Of those 25 wins, he finished 23 of them. Only the fights against Jeremy Stephens and Tony Ferguson came in unanimous decision victories.

Most Submissions

Charles Oliveira also holds the most finishes in UFC history with 17, much like his record for the most finishes under the Las Vegas-based promotion.

The Brazilian champion is coming off a first-round TKO finish against fellow top lightweight contender Beneil Dariush in their June 2023 showdown. He’s become a popular pick in UFC betting odds.

Most Knockouts

Heavyweight knockout artist and former title challenger, Derrick Lewis, has recently passed Matt Brown for the most knockouts in UFC history with 16.

Lewis scored a first-round TKO win over Marcos Rogerio de Lima in July 2023 to become the record holder in the category. The ‘’Black Beast’’ competed in 30 UFC fights and won 20 of those outings. Only his fights against Roy Nelson, Francis Ngannou, and Ilir Latifi were decision wins, and the rest were knockouts.

Most Strikes Landed

Max Holloway still has the bragging rights as the fighter with the most strikes landed in the UFC, with 3,907 in 31 fights.

His last two bouts against Calvin Kattar (in January 2021) and Yair Rodriguez (in November 2021) significantly separated him from the rest.

Considering that he is now in his 30s, he might increase this number by a considerable margin at the end of his fighting career.

Most Takedowns

Merab Dvalishvili holds the record for the most takedowns in UFC history with 119. He’s the first fighter to reach the 100-mark.

His wrestling-heavy approach, combined with his long-lasting cardio, has helped him etch his name in combat sports, as most bantamweight contenders couldn’t stop his relentless grappling attack.
