The featured prelim fight of the upcoming UFC Vegas 114 card this Saturday will be the heavyweight battle of Vitor Petrino and Steven Asplund, as they throw hands at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

Both are heavy punchers and coming off victories in their previous fights, but Petrino is going to be the betting favorite with -250 UFC odds, while Asplund will be the +200 betting underdog.

UFC Vegas 114: Vitor Petrino vs. Steven Asplund: Prediction

Due to his superior grappling skills, I predict a submission victory for Petrino over Asplund. Both have a one-punch knockout ability, but I think Petrino won’t engage in a firefight with Asplund, especially since he has previously finished six of his seven opponents.

With the grappling-heavy fight plan, Petrino will not only neutralize or nullify the power of Asplund, but he can also use it as his offense to maneuver his way into a sleek submission technique, especially since Asplund has already had a submission defeat in his career.

Vitor Petrino’s Recent Fight Results

Petrino has been with the UFC since 2023, and in his last five fights, he recorded three wins over Tyson Pedro, Austen Lane, and Thomas Petersen. His losses during this period were courtesy of Anthony Smith and Dustin Jacoby.

Steven Asplund’s Recent Fight Results

Asplund was an LFA standout before he joined Dana White’s Contender Series in September. He stopped Anthony Guarascio in just 16 seconds to punch his ticket to the UFC. He made his octagon debut against Sean Sharaf and scored a second-round stoppage in December.
