Ranked UFC bantamweight contender Montel Jackson looks to defend his position in the top 15, as he takes on Raoni Barcelos in the main card of UFC Vegas 116 on Saturday inside the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

Despite losing his most recent bout, Jackson remains the betting favorite heading into the match with -190 UFC odds, while Barcelos, who’s on a four-fight win streak, will be the +155 betting underdog.

UFC Vegas 116: Montel Jackson vs. Raoni Barcelos: Prediction

A unanimous decision win for Barcelos over Jackson is my prediction, as he has the better grappling skills, and he can nullify the striking and power of Jackson using takedowns. Also, Jackson is a bit quicker than Jackson, which means he can land more strikes on the feet.

Despite having the longer reach, Jackson doesn’t fully utilize this advantage because he often closes the gap when he throws his punches. Throwing several kicks is one of Jackson’s best assets, but he doesn’t fire with power; instead, he only throws them just to keep his opponent at bay.

Montel Jackson’s Recent Fight Results

Jackson was a product of Dana White’s Contender Series in 2018. Since then, he has climbed up the bantamweight division’s rankings and has won four of his last five fights. His victories were against Julio Arce, Ranu Yahya, Da’Mon Blackshear, and Daniel Marcos, while his lone loss during this stretch was to Deiveson Figueiredo.

Raoni Barcelos’ Recent Fight Results

Barcelos was the former RFA titleholder before the UFC signed him in 2018. He’s currently on a four-fight win streak with victories over Cristian Quinonez, Payton Talbott, Cody Garbrandt, and most recently, Ricky Simon.
