Ranked flyweight contender Bruno Silva looks to defend his position in the division as he takes on Édgar Cháirez at the UFC Vegas 118 card on Saturday inside the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

Even though he’s fresh off a loss in his previous match, Silva will still be the slight betting favorite with -125 UFC odds. On the other hand, Cháirez, who’s currently on a two-fight win streak, is going to be the +105 betting underdog.

UFC Vegas 118: Bruno Silva vs. Édgar Cháirez: Prediction

I predict a decision win for Cháirez over Silva because he’s the taller and longer fighter. This length will help him stay at a safe distance and inflict damage with his punches and kicks. Expect Cháirez to use a lot of front kicks.

The smaller-sized octagon at the Meta APEX will be an advantage for Silva because if he decides to pressure Cháirez, he won’t have a lot of real estate to move around. However, Cháirez’s footwork and movement will be enough to relieve this pressure.

Cháirez should also be ready against the incoming forward pressure from Silva, as he can counter it using body shots. This will neutralize his movement and should significantly slow down Silva if Cháirez connects.

Bruno Silva’s Recent Fight Results

Silva is the current No. 15-ranked flyweight contender. But he has only recorded two wins in his last five bouts, scoring victories over Cody Durden and HyunSung Park, while losing to Manel Kape, Joshua Van, and Charles Johnson.

Édgar Cháirez’s Recent Fight Results

Cháirez made his octagon debut in 2023 and racked up three wins and two losses in his promotional record. He defeated Daniel Lacerda, CJ Vergara, and Felipe Bunes, while his losses were at the hands of Tatsuro Taira and Joshua Van.
