Farès Ziam looks to defend his position in the UFC’s lightweight rankings, as he welcomes the challenge from Tom Nolan on Saturday at UFC Vegas 118, which takes place inside the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

Ziam heads into the showdown as the betting favorite with -325 UFC odds, mainly because of his six-fight win streak. On the other hand, Nolan is going to be the +260 betting underdog despite his own four-fight win streak.

UFC Vegas 118: Farès Ziam vs. Tom Nolan: Prediction

A TKO/KO finish for Ziam over Nolan is my prediction because he’s the more refined striker. Ziam is a very technical fighter and is very accurate with his punches and kicks. His jab and one-two punch combination will be perfect against the wide stance of Nolan.

Ziam also has the option to take Nolan down, particularly in the opening stages of the match, to give him something else to think about when they are throwing hands. This will possibly make Nolan second-guess in fully committing to a striking battle since there’s a threat of a level change.

Ultimately, the striking of Ziam will shine on fight night, and I think he’ll be able to catch Nolan with one of his punch combinations. Nolan was knocked down early into this fight with a straight punch, and once Ziam touches his chin, the match will be over.

Farès Ziam’s Recent Fight Results

Ziam was the former Hit Fighting Championship titleholder when the UFC signed him in 2019. He’s on a six-fight win streak, with victories over Michal Figlak, Jai Herbert, Claudio Puelles, Matt Frevola, Mike Davis, and Nazim Sadykhov. This is also the reason why he earned a spot in the division’s rankings.

Tom Nolan’s Recent Fight Results

Nolan’s route to the UFC was via Dana White’s Contender Series, where he finished Bogdan Grad in the opening round to secure a contract with the promotion. Since then, he competed in five bouts inside the octagon and scored four wins (Victor Martinez, Alex Reyes, Viacheslav Borshchev, and Charlie Campbell) and one loss (Nikolas Motta).
