Gaston Bolanos will move up to the featherweight division at UFC Vegas 119 on Saturday as he’s set to face Michael Aswell Jr. at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

Both are coming off losses in their previous bouts, but Aswell Jr. is going to be the betting favorite with -450 UFC odds, while Bolanos, who’s making his 145-pound debut, will be the +340 betting underdog.

UFC Vegas 119: Gaston Bolanos vs. Michael Aswell Jr.: Prediction

My prediction is a decision win for Aswell Jr. over Bolanos, as he’s the better grappler who can use it to control Bolanos and nullify his striking. Additionally, Aswell Jr. is also a good striker who likes to explode and blitz his opponents with rapid punch combinations.

I think Aswell Jr. will make Bolanos think that he’ll go for takedowns and submission attempts in the early stages of the fight. And once he drops his guard and worries about those takedown attempts, he’ll proceed with letting go of his hands.

But Bolanos is a very durable and gritty fighter who can survive the full three rounds of action. Both will have their moments in the striking exchange, but I think Aswell Jr. will win the majority, especially if he doesn’t blow up his cardio until the final bell.

Gaston Bolanos’ Recent Fight Results

Bolanos was a former Bellator contender who was signed by the UFC in 2023. In his four octagon appearances, he racked up two wins (Aaron Phillips and Cortavious Romious) and two losses (Marcus McGhee and Quang Le).

Michael Aswell Jr.’s Recent Fight Results

Aswell Jr. was a former Fury Fighting Championship titleholder. He made his UFC debut last year and has since recorded one win over Lucas Almeida and two losses to Bolaji Oki and Luke Riley.
