UFC Vegas 119: Karol Rosa vs. Luana Santos: Prediction

With the Brazilian jiu-jitsu credentials of Santos, I predict a submission win for her over Rosa. Though Rosa has decent BJJ and submission skills, Santos is on a different level when it comes to grappling.

Santos uses her judo background to throw her opponents onto the mat and secure takedowns. From there, she scrambles and maneuvers to a submission technique until her opponent succumbs to the position she wants.

But Santos needs to survive and get past Rosa’s strikes because one clean punch or kick could change the complexion of the match, thus swinging the moment the other way. What Santos should do is time a perfect level change and go under Rosa to make the takedown attempt easier.

Karol Rosa’s Recent Fight Results

Rosa is the current No. 8-ranked contender in the women’s bantamweight division. She won three of her last five bouts in the promotion. Her victories were against Yana Santos, Pannie Kianzad, and Nora Cornolle, while her losses were courtesy of Irene Aldana and Ailin Perez.

Luana Santos’ Recent Fight Results

Santos made her UFC debut in 2023 and has become the No. 11-ranked women’s bantamweight contender. She won five of her six bouts inside the octagon. Her wins were over Juliana Miller, Stephanie Egger, Mariya Agapova, Tainara Lisboa, and Melissa Croden, while her lone loss was to Casey O’Neill.
