USA vs. Italy WBC Prediction & Odds for Tuesday (March 10)

The United States will wrap up pool play in the World Baseball Classic against Italy. First pitch is 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday at Daikin Park in Houston on FS1.

The USA (3-0) is a -1100 favorite, but Italy (2-0) has aspirations of playing spoiler while fighting for a quarterfinal berth.

USA vs. Italy WBC Prediction for March 10

  • Lean over 11.5

Based on the updated baseball odds, I prefer the over (11.5) for my USA vs. Italy WBC prediction on Tuesday. I also think Italy +5.5 is the better side on the run line.

The market has power-rated Mexico higher than Italy, as the USA was only a -550 favorite in yesterday’s WBC battle. But I think these two teams are closer than expected, which is why Wednesday’s matchup could decide who qualifies for the quarterfinals.

Given the importance of tomorrow’s matchup for Italy, I could see this team saving its best arms for Mexico if tonight’s game got out of hand. Michael Lorenzen is currently in line to start for Italy tonight.

At the same time, the USA is sending Nolan McLean to the mound. The New York Mets right-hander is currently among the betting favorites in the NL Rookie of the Year odds, but he’s certainly the least-experienced starter for Team USA.

As a result, I see more paths for this to turn into a high-scoring affair. The USA used its better pitchers last night, while Italy might prefer to save its top arms for tomorrow.

This could be a night to back the lineups. I prefer the over on the full-game total at 11.5 or better.

USA vs. Italy WBC Odds: Tuesday, March 10

  • USA moneyline: -1100
  • Italy moneyline: +700
  • Total: 11.5
