Unless you have clairvoyant abilities, you probably didn’t see some of the crazy outcomes coming that we witnessed in Week 9. For example, who could have predicted that the Super Bowl contending Buffalo Bills would be held to just six points by the 1-6 Jacksonville Jaguars, a team near the bottom of every statistical category in the NFL?
Or how about the Dallas Cowboys getting their hats handed to them at home by a very average Denver Broncos squad? Dallas had won six straight previously, including a road game with their backup quarterback just the week before. But that’s why we love to bet on football – there’s always the thrill of the unknown.
With all of last week’s betting drama for inspiration, let’s take a look at some of the best picks and parlays for Week 10.
Seattle Seahawks (+160) at Green Bay Packers
Usually, I wouldn’t recommend betting against Aaron Rodgers at home against a West Coast team, but this week features a different set of circumstances. The long-awaited return of superstar quarterback Russell Wilson is finally here, and he’ll have no time to waste if the 3-5 Seahawks have any hope at a playoff berth this year.
It’s hard to imagine that Wilson will miss a beat, and his enthusiasm and leadership should light a fire under the team this week. But, on the other hand, we have a Packers team that’s been mired in controversy this week with the Aaron Rodgers Covid-19 debacle. It’s not a sure thing Rodgers even plays, but he’ll be doing so with no practice time even if he does. So I like the Seahawks to upset the Packers and get back on track in this one.
Cleveland Browns (+105) at New England Patriots
The Browns entered last Sunday with the Odell Beckham Jr. saga in the rear-view mirror, and it looked to suit them just fine. The team played one of its most inspired games all season and upset a solid Bengals team on the road. The team’s running game and defense were on full display, and quarterback Baker Mayfield was efficient in a lopsided 41-16 victory.
The Patriots have been no slouch either, winning their last three and four out of their previous five. It looks like Head Coach Bill Belichick has turned things around in New England and has his defense playing great. But I think the Patriots will be outmatched this week against an energized-looking Browns team that seems happy to have moved on from the Beckham Jr. drama.
Minnesota Vikings at Los Angeles Chargers (-2.5), New Orleans Saints at Tennessee Titans (-3)
For this week’s parlay, I like the Chargers and Titans at home. The Titans answered with authority to the question of how they would respond without all-world running back Derrick Henry on Sunday night as Tennessee dismantled the heavily favored Rams on the road.
The Titans’ defense had quarterback Matthew Stafford confused all night, forcing multiple turnovers in a dominating effort. Next, they’ll face a Saints team that looked mediocre last week under the guidance of backup QB Trevor Siemian. Right now, it seems like these two teams are going in opposite directions.
The Chargers pulled off a cross-country road victory against the Eagles thanks to the outstanding quarterback play of second-year sensation Justin Herbert. Herbert went 32 for 38 for 356 yards and two touchdowns on the way to a 27-24 victory.
Meanwhile, the Vikings blew lead after lead in Baltimore to lose in overtime and fall to 3-5. This team is just far too inconsistent for my liking and always seems to fall short in big moments. Look for Head Coach Mike Zimmer’s hot seat to get a little hotter after another loss in Los Angeles.

Another week promises a lot more opportunities to cash in with some carefully crafted picks and parlays. So will you back the underdogs and hope for a repeat of some big payouts this week? Or will you string some heavy favorites together on a parlay ticket?
