Monday Night Football is one of the most anticipated events of the week for football bettors. This week Monday Night Football has the New York Giants going on the road to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
BetMGM’s latest NFL lines have the Bucs as a ten and a half point favorite in the game.
Will they cover? And, is the spread even the best bet on the board in this game? These are some of the best Monday Night Football bets available.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers -10.5
I will start with the spread for this game, and for this, I like the Bucs. Even though they’ve looked vulnerable after losing two straight, I believe Tampa Bay will bounce back in this game.
They still have the third-most total yards per game (406.4) and points per game (31) in the NFL. The Giants average 334.8 yards per game and 19.9 points per game in comparison.
Not only that, but I believe the Giants’ offensive line matches up poorly with Tampa Bay’s defensive front seven. Tampa Bay blitzes on 40.3% of their plays, which has resulted in 22 sacks and quarterback pressure on 26% of plays.
Over 49.5
With the above in mind, I expect this to be a high-scoring game.
Considering that Tampa Bay averages 31 points per game, I would not expect Tom Brady and company to be held to 19 points again.
As for the Giants, they still managed to beat the Raiders in Week 9 even without arguably their best WR in Sterling Shepard. If Saquon Barkley and Andrew Thomas are able to play this week (and there are reasons for optimism), I believe the Giants can put up at least 20 points in this game.
Buccaneers Money Line and Over 49.5 (+120)
One option to try and gain some small favorable odds is to parlay two of the bets above. However, one safer option is to go for the money line rather than the spread and take the over-point total if you buy into the above.
I can’t see Tom Brady losing a third straight game, and the money line makes it so that Tampa Bay only has to win outright.
Buccaneers -6.5 and Over 50.5 (+190)
If you buy into the Bucs putting up a decent amount of points in this game, perhaps you may consider a spread parlay. The regular spread is ten and a half points. It can be intimidating to ask a team to cover that big of a spread, especially against a team like the Giants, who do not get blown out too often.
However, moving the spread down to -6.5 gives you a little protection if the Giants hang around. You then only need to have Tampa Bay win by a touchdown and can rely on a high-scoring game for a potentially good payout.
Buccaneers Money Line and Both Teams Get 20+ Points (+175)
I see this as a high-scoring game, and I believe that the Giants will put up a fight. This bet may feel risky to some, considering New York has only scored 20+ points in five of their nine games this season.
However, if Tampa Bay takes control of this game early, there may be enough time in the fourth quarter for the Giants to score a garbage-time touchdown that can potentially get them to 20.
