The women’s side of the Round 2 Wimbledon draw is highlighted by a couple of finely balanced contests, both of which offer great value on the moneyline.

Wimbledon betting odds for the two featured matches below offer fairly even propositions, going against the usual Round 2 trend of heavy favorites versus outgunned underdogs.

Wimbledon Odds: Bianca Andreescu (-139) vs. Elena Rybakina (+100)

The second-round match between Bianca Andreescu and Elena Rybakina should be a tightly contested affair that goes the distance. After ascending to the world’s fourth ranking, Andreescu tore the meniscus in her left knee, keeping her off the court for over a year.

The Canadian is showing glimpses of returning to pre-injury form. She made it to the final of the Bad Homburg in the lead up to Wimbledon, which was her first appearance in a final in over a year.

Coming off her first victory in a Wimbledon match, she enters the Round 2 contest against Rybakina as the world’s 56th-ranked player.

Andreescu swatted aside Emina Bektas in a straight set (6-1, 6-3) first-round victory. This is the Canadian’s second appearance at the All England Club. She has never faced the 23rd-ranked Rybakina, who has endured her fair share of inconsistency.

Rybakina hasn’t made it past the Round of 16 at any tournament since qualifying for the BNP Paribas Open in March. She has two WTP titles, the last coming in 2020. Rybakina made it to the quarterfinals of last season’s Wimbledon in her first appearance at the All England Club.

It will be interesting to see whether her outstanding maiden Wimbledon experience was beginner’s luck or something more promising.

Look for the 23-year-old from Kazakhstan to sneak past the Canadian in three sets.

Pick: Rybakina (+100), Three Set Victory (+375)

Wimbledon Odds: Lesia Tsurenko (+110) vs. Jule Niemeier (-139)

The second-round match between Lesia Tsurenko and Jule Niemeier pits the German Wimbledon debutant against the veteran Ukrainian, who is making her 10th appearance at The Championships.

The 33-year-old Ukrainian, despite her 15 years on tour, has never advanced past the third round at Wimbledon. She has only made it to the third round in nine previous attempts, making Thursday’s contest against the 22-year-old all the more intriguing.

Tsurenko is ranked 101st in the world but had no issue advancing past Jodie Anna Burrage, the 141st-ranked player, in the first round. Burrage was also making her debut Wimbledon appearance.

Tsurenko advanced to the quarterfinals of the Rothesay International Eastbourne warm-up tournament last month, her best result since making it to the same stage of the Transylvania Open in October 2021.

Niemeier, ranked 97th, made it to the final of the Makarska Open in early June and surprisingly demolished the women’s second seed Anett Kontaveit in straight sets (6-4, 6-0) in the opening round.

Winning in such a comprehensive fashion against a top seed is all the more impressive when considering it is the German’s first kick at the Wimbledon can.

Usually, when looking at combatants with similarly low rankings, the more experienced grass-court player would yield favorable Wimbledon odds. However, Niemeier is flush with confidence and is also playing better tennis of late.

Thursday’s Round 2 encounter marks the first tilt between the Ukrainian and German.

Tsurenko’s torrid time at Wimbledon should continue on Thursday. Look for the 22-year-old German to advance to the third round.

Pick: Niemeier (-139), In Straight Sets (Two-set Victory) (+250)
