Liberty vs. Dream Prediction: WNBA Playoffs Game 1, Semifinals

Sportsbook Promos

The New York Liberty and Atlanta Dream will meet in the 2026 WNBA playoff semifinals. Game 1 is on Sunday.

Read on for my Liberty vs. Dream prediction based on the latest WNBA odds:

Liberty vs. Dream Prediction: Sunday, Oct. 4

  • Liberty series moneyline (+120)

Before Sunday’s Game 1, I’m interested in backing the Liberty’s series moneyline value as an underdog. It’s simply difficult to bet against New York’s pedigree at this point.

The Liberty didn’t become the first No. 8 seed to knock off a No. 1 seed by accident. No, this team has always had this level of upside on paper. They’re just finally rounding into form.

New York began the year as the preseason title favorite, a role it didn’t relinquish until the summer. The Liberty underperformed during the regular season, but mostly because of injuries.

They finally found their stride in the home stretch. Over the final 15 games, New York went 10-5 with a +6 net rating.

Breanna Stewart has arguably had her best season in a Liberty uniform, somehow finding another gear after winning the FIBA MVP trophy during the international break. Stewart finished with 55 points, 17 rebounds, 10 assists, four steals, and four blocks in Round 1.

If Stewart can get Angel Reese (the 2026 Defensive Player of the Year) in foul trouble, the Dream might struggle to stop the league’s second-best player. I also trust Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones to deliver in a best-of-five playoff series.

The Dream are coming off their first playoff series win in 10 years, whereas the Liberty know what it takes to win a title after doing so two seasons ago. That will matter in what could be a thrilling semifinal matchup.

Prediction: Liberty series moneyline (+120)
