The Toronto Tempo have a win total of 15.5 at BetMGM for the 2026 WNBA season.
Of the two expansion franchises entering their first year, the Tempo have the higher WNBA odds in this market.
Toronto Tempo Over/Under Wins 2026
- Over 15.5 wins: -120
- Under 15.5 wins: -110
Toronto Tempo Win Total Prediction
- Under 15.5 wins (Pick made April 20)
I like the under on the Tempo’s win total, especially when compared to recent expansion teams.
This time last year, the Golden State Valkyries had a single-digit win total (8.5). They eventually shattered expectations, winning 23 games and becoming the first expansion team to make the postseason in their first year.
The market clearly favors Toronto’s chances of following in Golden State’s footsteps — at least compared to the Portland Fire, who have a win total of 11.5. However, I’m not as convinced that there is that big a gap between the Tempo and Fire.
Sure, the Tempo hope to compete sooner rather than later. That’s why they brought in head coach Sandy Brondello, who won a WNBA championship with the New York Liberty in 2024. It also explains why Toronto made an offer for restricted free agent Shakira Austin before the Washington Mystics matched it.
After striking out on Austin, I have concerns about Toronto’s frontcourt in Year 1. Marina Mabrey and Brittney Sykes make up a veteran backcourt, but neither player has shown the ability to lead a winning team.
Golden State set a high bar for all upcoming expansion teams, but the reality is, there are supposed to be some struggles out of the gate. Before the Valkyries, the previous two first-year WNBA teams (Chicago Sky in 2006 and Atlanta Dream in 2008) failed to win 15% of their games.
I like the under for Toronto’s win total in Year 1, but this franchise could quickly put something together in the near future.
