The Golden State Valkyries have a win total of 21.5 at the BetMGM online sportsbook for the 2026 WNBA season.

In its first season in the WNBA, Golden State won 23 games and made the playoffs. The WNBA odds market is expecting some regression in Year 2.

  • Under 21.5 wins: -115

Golden State Valkyries Win Total Prediction

  • Lean over 21.5 wins

I prefer the over on the Valkyries’ win total (21.5), but there is certainly room for regression in 2026.

To be honest, Golden State faded a bit down the stretch last year. The Valkyries dropped six of their final 11 games across the final month before losing in two games during Round 1 against the Minnesota Lynx.

But the fact that the Valkyries were even in that position was impressive. They became the first expansion team to make the playoffs in their inaugural season.

Natalie Nakase, who was named WNBA Coach of the Year, helped shape Golden State’s identity. The Valkyries ranked first in points per game allowed (76.3) and fourth in defensive rating.

Kayla Thornton and Veronica Burton had breakout seasons in expanded roles. Thornton led the team with an average of 14 points and seven rebounds in 22 games before an injury cut her season short. Burton averaged 11.9 points and six assists to win Most Improved Player.

Forward Janelle Salaün also flashed as a rookie, averaging 11.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest.

The Valkyries were in desperate need of another key starter, and they went out and landed one of the best free agents.

Gabby Williams should fit seamlessly as a two-way wing after averaging 11.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists for the Seattle Storm last season. Williams will be a WNBA Defensive Player of the Year odds contender.

Still, I question whether the Valkyries have the offensive firepower to hang with the league’s top teams. They ranked ninth in offensive rating last season, posting the league’s worst field-goal percentage.

Golden State’s foundation is solid, but leveling up is an entirely different story. I’d rather pass on the win total and look for times to back the Valkyries as underdogs.
