- Arike Ogunbowale over 13.5 points
While I like the over on the full-game total, I prefer to back a high-scoring matchup when player props markets become available. In particular, I’m interested in a potentially discounted line for Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale.
Ogunbowale’s scoring line has been as low as 14.5 in recent games, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see an over/under of 13.5. Still, I’m willing to take the over at 14.5 points or better.
So far this season, Ogunbowale is averaging 13.1 points per game on a 23.6% usage rating. She’s scored at least 15 points in five of her nine matchups.
However, Ogunbowale’s production has dipped slightly since Dallas gave rookie guard Azzi Fudd a bigger role. Ogunbowale has averaged 7.8 points in 24.8 minutes across the past four outings. During that same stretch, Fudd is averaging 15.5 points and 28.8 minutes per contest.
Eventually, the Wings’ primary offensive options will learn to coexist together. And it wouldn’t surprise me if that happened as early as Friday’s matchup with the Sparks.
Los Angeles has the worst defensive rating in the league, allowing the most points per game (91.8). The Sparks rank 13th in defending spot-up shooters.
Basically, it’s an ideal situation for Ogunbowale to break out of her recent slump. And her scoring line is likely to be the lowest it has been all season. Sign me up.
