  • Ecuador is predicted to be a 0.5-goal favorite against Ivory Coast.
  • Ecuador has not dropped all three points in a match since Sept. 2024.
  • My Ecuador vs Ivory Coast prediction is the Total Under 1.5 Goals (+138).

Across all of Matchday 1, Ecuador vs Ivory Coast features the smallest over/under on the board.

A defensive showcase is expected from Philadelphia. Ecuador arrives at the fixture unbeaten in its last 18 matches. However, they’ve taken all three points only seven times.

The Ivory Coast produced a successful run at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Ultimately, manager Emerse Fae’s side crashed out 3-2 against Egypt in the quarterfinal.

Ivory Coast vs Ecuador Prediction

Based on Ecuador’s lack of offensive production in competitive matches and their stout defensive record, my Ecuador vs Ivory Coast prediction is Under 1.5 Goals (+135).

A lack of goals proved a staple of Ecuador’s qualifying campaign. Over 18 CONMEBOL qualifying fixtures, Ecuador’s matches combined for only 19 goals.

Ecuador’s attack managed only 14 goals in those matches. Against teams not named Bolivia, they scored eight goals in 16 matches.

The South American outfit relies heavily on an aging Enner Valencia to score. Behind him, Ecuador lacks much in terms of its attack.

The Ivory Coast will represent a significant uptick in competition from Ecuador’s pre-tournament friendlies as well.

Preparing for the opener against Saudi Arabia and Guatemala is, in my opinion, not productive for the attack.

The good news? Ecuador showed in qualifying that it can limit much better attacks to their Matchday 1 opposition.

Manager Sebastian Beccacece sent out his defense against Brazil and Argentina in two of its final four qualifying matches.

Argentina, albeit without Lionel Messi, generated only 0.4 expected goals. The team faced a man deficit for 19 minutes of game action, but it’s still a bad output.

Ecuador performed even better against a full-fledged Brazil attack. One of the World Cup favorites failed to score against Ecuador and created only 0.5 expected goals.

Ivory Coast represents a step down in competition for Ecuador’s defense. At the same time, I like the African nation’s defensive profile.

The team held Cameroon to 0.6 xG at the Africa Cup of Nations. Despite allowing three goals to Egypt, it came off 0.8 xG and 1.7 post-shot xG.

Those factors lead me to consider the under for the lowest total, largely due to the price.
