With a win on home soil in Mexico vs England, El Tri would match its best World Cup finish.

What’s the Furthest Mexico Has Gone at the World Cup?

Mexico enjoyed one of the most consistent World Cup records.

The North American outfit reached the round of 16 every four years between 1994 and 2018. However, they never advanced past that stage at 32-team World Cups.

On home soil in 1986, Mexico reached the quarterfinals. The result matched Mexico’s previous best finish (1970) as El Tri fell to Germany on penalty kicks in the ’86 quarterfinals.

Mexico saw its knockout streak ended at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Four points proved not enough in a group with eventual winners Argentina, as Mexico exited early.

Oddsmakers currently price Mexico at to advance past England and reach the quarters. Mexico is simultaneously to reach the semifinals and to reach the final.
