The South American outfit reached the quarterfinals at the 2010 World Cup.

After failing to qualify in the subsequent three tournaments, Paraguay reached the round of 16 with a win over Germany. The win matched Paraguay’s performances in 1986, 1998 and 2002.

In 2010, Paraguay won Group F with a win and two draws. A penalty shootout win over Japan earned Paraguay a quarterfinal berth before the nation fell 1-0 to Spain.

Prior to 1986, Paraguay either failed to qualify for the World Cup or exited in the group stage. Over six appearances since ’86, Paraguay failed to advance past the group stage once.

The CONMEBOL side faces a lofty task to reach the quarterfinals. Oddsmakers price Paraguay at to advance past France, the 2018 winners, in the round of 16.
