Based on World Cup odds, England striker Harry Kane is +600 to win the Golden Boot.

Kane finished as the top goalscorer at the 2018 World Cup. In Russia, Kane scored six goals for the Three Lions to lead all players.

He struggled at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Kane notched only two goals for Gareth Southgate’s squad, finishing second on England in goals scored.

Harry Kane Golden Boot Prediction & Analysis

Based on the makeup of England’s group and the odds associated with Kane, I predict Harry Kane will fail to win the Golden Boot at the 2026 World Cup.

A clear argument exists for Kane to claim the honor. He features as the focal point of England’s attack, takes penalty kicks for the Three Lions and previously won the award.

Kane loses my interest on two fronts, though. First, England takes a very pragmatic approach to games. Under Thomas Tuchel, England rarely runs up the score on opposing teams.

England’s group draw for the 2026 World Cup complicates the path for Kane as well. Croatia, Ghana and Panama all deploy very low blocks in a hope to limit opponent chances.

Comparatively, other World Cup powers like Spain, France and Germany benefit from favorable draws. It should allow some of their attackers to rack up goals quickly.

In 2018, Kane won the award on the back of five goals in the group stage. In fact, all six of his goals came before the quarterfinals.

That leads me to the second area where Kane loses my interest: price.

At this price, you have to believe Kane scores in bunches early. It’s not to say he can’t achieve that feat, but other players have superior draws paired with lower prices.

For those reasons, I’m staying away from Kane to win the Golden Boot.
