Many moons have passed since the Three Lions won a FIFA World Cup title.

England last won a World Cup in 1966. That success qualifies as the only World Cup victory for the English soccer team.

Since England’s success in 1966, the team has finished eighth or better in eight of 11 World Cup appearances. Only once in that span has England qualified and exited in the group stage.

The Three Lions will begin the 2026 FIFA World Cup as runners-up in the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

A win as the second favorite on the pre-tournament odds board would mark 50 years since its last World Cup win.
