  • The Netherlands is predicted to be a 2.5-goal favorite against Tunisia.
  • The Netherlands has scored at least two goals in three straight matches.
  • My Netherlands vs Tunisia prediction is the Netherlands Over 2.5 Goals (-135).

The Netherlands will try to cement its status atop Group F as heavy favorites against Tunisia.

Ronald Koeman’s side throttled Sweden 5-1 on Matchday 2 after drawing Japan 2-2. It marked the third straight game where the Dutch attack scored at least two goals.

Tunisia fell 4-0 to Japan later on Saturday, eliminating the African side from the tournament. Entering Thursday’s match, Tunisia allowed at least four goals in three straight.

Tunisia vs Netherlands Prediction

Based on Tunisia’s lackluster defensive metrics against Japan and the Netherlands needing to go for it, my Netherlands vs Tunisia prediction is the Netherlands Over 2.5 Goals (-135).

Sometimes the simplest answer is (presumably) the right one. Tunisia offers zero resistance in defense, evidenced by allowing 2.1 expected goals and 2.7 post-shot xG to Japan.

The Netherlands pose a loftier challenge. As a relatively short favorite against Sweden, the attack produced a wildly efficient performance.

Koeman’s side scored twice inside the first 17 minutes. During the opening 45 minutes, the Netherlands generated 1.88 post-shot xG.

Across the entire fixture, the Dutch attack notched 2.6 expected goals and 4.2 post-shot xG against Sweden.

It marked the second straight match where the Netherlands cleared two post-shot xG.

Lastly, the Dutch attack needs goals here. If you assume Japan runs up the score on Sweden, goal differential could come into play.

Currently, the Netherlands are tied with Japan on goal differential. If both teams finish level on goal differential, the next tiebreaker is total goals scored.

That gives extra motivation for the Dutch attack to try and run rampant in Kansas City. Against a bad, unmotivated defense, I predict the attack continues to thrive.
