- South Korea is predicted to be a 0.5-goal favorite against the Czech Republic.
- Both Teams to Score - “No” has hit in six straight South Korea fixtures.
- My South Korea vs Czech Republic prediction is South Korea 1H Draw, No Bet (-125).
The opening round of Group A play concludes from Guadalajara with South Korea against the Czech Republic.
South Korea has produced some wildly inconsistent results lately. Excluding a pre-tournament friendly against El Salvador, six straight have seen at least one team fail to score.
Czechia, outside its last pre-tournament friendly, carries a five-match unbeaten streak into the match. However, all five of those successes came within the Czech border.

Czech Republic vs South Korea Prediction
Based on South Korea’s familiarity playing at altitude and the Czech Republic’s lengthy travel, my South Korea vs Czech Republic prediction is South Korea 1H Draw, No Bet (-125).

Finding a discernible advantage between these teams is difficult.
Reasons exist to question both teams: South Korea lacks experience against good competition, and Czechia produced its best games against wildly inferior opposition.
If there’s a potential advantage to be had, it may come in the opening half. The thesis stems from each side’s travel requirements for the opening match.
It requires an explanation of training bases. Every country playing in the World Cup selected a home base for the tournament, from which it will travel to its matches.
South Korea owns a distinct advantage in this respect. The Asian outfit picked Guadalajara as its base, likely due to two matches in the Mexican city plus a third in Monterrey.
Only two teams – Mexico and Paraguay – face a smaller travel log in the group stage. Meanwhile, the Czech Republic opted for Dallas, leaving a nearly 1,000-mile journey.
My assumption is the travel may impact the UEFA side early.
Guadalajara sits 1,560 meters above sea level. South Korea will have experienced the elevation in training, whereas the Czech Republic has not.
It may lead to a slower start for the European outfit. Plus, South Korea possesses the defensive personnel to counter the Czech Republic’s strength.
Most of the UEFA sides’ attacking strategy is swinging crosses into Bayer Leverkusen forward Patrik Schick. However, South Korea deploys Bayern Munich central defender Kim Min-Jae.
Those factors lead me to believe, at minimum, South Korea stays level in the opening 45 minutes.
