  • The Brisbane International draw opens the Aussie Summer tennis schedule.
  • Brisbane hosts both WTA and ATP draws, but the women’s tournament is bigger.
  • The total women’s prize purse available at Brisbane is about $1.7 Million.

Welcome to tennis season.

The ATP schedule and WTA schedule both begin in Australia in January, where it’s currently the middle of the summer. How convenient!

Brisbane is one of several warm-up tournaments that play ahead of this month’s Australian Open. It hosts concurrent men’s and women’s draws, meaning the event will have a men’s singles champion and a women’s singles champion.

Both winners will walk away with a lot of prize money, but the women actually have the better deal here. That’s because Brisbane is an ATP 250 event on the men’s side and a WTA 500 event on the women’s.

In the grand scheme of things, that won’t matter for high-level players. Tour regulars are just trying to get in a groove before the first grand slam of the year starts.

But for any players or fans paying early attention to points and prize money, Brisbane’s early status as a WTA 500 event is mildly significant. The total men’s prize purse is $800,045; the women are playing for a larger purse of $1,691,602.

Brisbane International Payout: How Much Prize Money Will the Winner Receive?

In 2026, the women’s singles champion at the Brisbane International will receive $214,530 in prize money.

The men’s singles champion will receive $114,060 because Brisbane is tabbed as a less significant draw on the men’s tour.
