  • The Toray Pan Pacific Open is the final WTA 500 draw before the Finals in Riyadh.
  • The total prize purse in Tokyo is more than $1 million.

The menโ€™s tour has returned to Europe by now, but the WTA takes a more maximal approach to the Asian swing.ย

Thus, after last weekโ€™s Ningbo Open, the ladies are still in East Asia. This week, the top event is the WTA 500 draw in Tokyo, known as the Toray Pan Pacific Open.

This is the second straight week with a tour event in Japan. WTA players who werenโ€™t in Ningbo last week had the chance to play in the womenโ€™s half of the Kinoshita Group Japan Open. (The menโ€™s draw for the Japan Open was last month.)

Tokyo will provide the final WTA 500 event before the WTA Finals in Riyadh during the first week of November. The total prize money available in this yearโ€™s edition of the Pan Pacific Open is $1,064,510.
