  • The 2026 Qatar TotalEnergies Open is the first WTA 1000 event of the year.
  • One week later, the men play an ATP 500 event at Doha.
  • The total WTA prize purse for Doha is more than $4 million. (The men play for less.)

In the aftermath of the Australian Open, the men’s tennis tour retreats to smaller tournaments, mostly spread out across Europe and the Americas.

The women’s tour, by contrast, wastes little time in returning to major competition. As part of the Middle East Swing, the season’s first WTA 1000 event began in Doha on Feb. 9. It’s stylized as the Qatar TotalEnergies Open (or, more simply, the Qatar Ladies Open) and draws many of the top contenders from Melbourne for another big tournament.

One week later, as the WTA tour heads east to Dubai, the ATP flies into Qatar for its own Doha draw, which begins on Feb. 16.

That tournament, which is a less prestigious ATP 500 event, is sponsored by ExxonMobil.

Naturally, BetMGM has tennis odds for every match.

As you might imagine, a WTA 1000 event comes with a large purse. The total prize money available for the women’s 2026 Doha draw is $4,088,211.

The men will play for a smaller purse of $2,833,335.
