Tennis Calendar: When Is the US Open?

With grass season ending and Wimbledon odds now settled, it’s time to turn the page to the final major tennis tournament of the year: the US Open.

Wimbledon gave tennis odds enthusiasts an epic fortnight of fun with a little bit of everything on offer. 

On the men’s side, Novak Djokovic won his fourth straight title on the London lawn, his 21st major tournament victory. 

On the other hand, the women’s draw gave us chaos. No. 1 Iga Swiatek lost early, and Elena Rybakina won her first career major title. 

Wimbledon minted thousands of new tennis fans over the last month, which helps explain why so many people are asking the same question: when is the US Open?

US Open Tennis Dates: When Is the US Open?

The main draw of the 2022 US Open begins on Monday, August 29 and ends on Sunday, September 11. 

The qualifying draw will run from August 23-26.

For Americans who are just learning the tennis calendar, it’s helpful to think about the summer tennis major schedule as a three-act set.

The summer opens with the French Open in late May and early June.

Wimbledon is almost like the halftime show; its timing is often wrapped around the July 4 holiday.

The US Open is like the finale and usually occurs during Labor Day weekend. 

US Open Tennis Odds: What We Know So Far About the Main Draw

The US Open odds markets at BetMGM sportsbook are sure to get some action this weekend, as the US Open just released its singles entry list for next month’s tournament. 

On the men’s side, reigning champion Daniil Medvedev is No. 1. Djokovic is currently ranked No. 7 but is unlikely to be allowed to participate in this year’s US Open draw because of his vaccination status.

On the women’s side, Swiatek is the unsurprising No. 1, following her enormously long winning streak earlier this year. Last year’s champ, Emma Raducanu, is No. 10.
