- Chelsea is predicted to be a 0.5-goal home underdog against Man City.
- The 'First Half Over 0.5 Goals' market has hit in each of Chelsea's last 10 EPL matches.
- My Chelsea vs Man City prediction is Man City 1H Over 0.5 Goals (-135).
The marquee fixture of this Premier League weekend pits Chelsea against Man City at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea has struggled to find consistent form in the league recently. The Blues have won points only once in the last four matches, dropping to sixth in the league table.
Man City enters Sunday’s match second in the league, nine points adrift of Arsenal. Pep Guardiola’s side enters this fixture unbeaten in eight, including five wins.

Man City vs Chelsea: Prediction
Based on Chelsea’s defensive struggles as a market underdog and City’s attacking prowess, my Chelsea vs Man City
prediction is Man City 1H Over 0.5 (-135).
When these teams last met, City dominated proceedings early. Tijjani Reijnders scored on 42 minutes, with City creating 0.86 post-shot expected goals.
I don’t expect a different result with Chelsea playing at home. Save for a win over Port Vale in the last match, Chelsea posted troubling defensive metrics.
Chelsea went to Everton and allowed 0.7 post-shot xG in the first half. PSG (twice) and Newcastle managed tallies inside the first 20 minutes against Chelsea’s defense.
Manager Liam Rosenior’s defense allowed over one post-shot xG in all three of those matches. PSG, the closest comparison to Man City, averaged 1.4 psxG per first half.
City achieved this result against better defenses, even on the road. Guardiola’s attack found a first-half tally against Arsenal as road underdogs.
That success qualifies as one of nine road successes for City through 15 road matches. Across 30 matches this year, City scored a first-half goal 22 times in 30 matches.
From a metrics standpoint, City generated 31.26 xG in the opening half compared to 33.65 in the second half. It gives a strong edge over Chelsea, which has struggled early and late.
Chelsea’s defense has allowed over 15 expected goals in the first 30 minutes and almost 20 xG in the final 30 minutes.
Plus, Chelsea’s defense currently operates without Trevor Chalobah, their best defender. Due to that absence, I predict the hosts struggle early against the league’s best attack.
