There are some sports betting restrictions in the state:

College Restrictions

• No college player props (in-play and pre-match)
• No wagering on college sporting events involving a New York college team or athlete on a New York college team (games involving non-New York teams played in the state of New York are allowed)
• No futures involving a New York college team (or player on a New York college team)
• Only NCAA Division 1 for approved NCAA sports (basketball, football (FBS only) and hockey)

Other Restrictions

• Majority of participants in an event must be 18+
• Market restrictions (the following are not permitted):
  • Negative outcome propositions. Examples include missed field goal, double fault, missed putt, errors, turnovers, penalties/fouls
  • Wagers that occur before the start of an event. Examples include coin toss, starting lineups, injury reports, length of national anthem.
  • Officiating-related markets: Examples include number of fouls, penalties, or violations called by an official/referee/umpire.
  • No wagering on workouts/training sessions such as the NFL Scouting Combine or NBA pre-draft workouts.
  • No wagering on drafts, even for approved leagues.
  • No awards determined based on voting.
  • No wagering on non-sports events (i.e., Academy Awards, Emmys)

Amateur Sport and E-Sports

• All high school/amateur sports or athletic events other than Olympics or college sports are prohibited.
• E-sports are not currently permitted.
