College basketball will be locked into A10 basketball on Friday night, as ESPN2 is spotlighting the regular season finale for VCU (25-5, 15-2) and Dayton (21-9, 11-6).
With only two ranked teams in action that day, this mid-major finale could be heavily targeted in the online sports betting world. Here’s my handicap for the game.

Dayton vs. VCU Preview
VCU has already clinched a share of the Atlantic 10 title, and the Rams can win it outright with a win over the Flyers. Dayton has won five of its last six games dating back to mid-February.
Regardless of the conference standings, VCU will still want the win in this game, given its potential NCAA Tournament seeding implications. With close to 30 wins, there’s also the potential for VCU to snag an at-large bid if it crashes out of the Atlantic 10 Tournament next week. There’s no need to wait for last-minute news on the starters – everyone will play.
It’s a good time to be VCU, too. The Rams’ nine-game active winning streak is one of the best in college basketball right now. They’re leading with defense, contesting shots and defending opposing offenses better than 99% of Division I teams.
KenPom tabs VCU as a top 10 defense in several key areas, including effective field goal defense, opponent two-point shooting percentage, and blocked shot percentage.
Because the defense has been building to an apex all season long, this is a great time to target VCU unders. Four of the Rams’ last five games have gone under the total.
Considering the betting public generally plays the over, VCU’s increasing public visibility as a strong mid-major team could shift the market up, too.
Dayton vs. VCU Prediction
I am predicting an under in Friday night’s VCU vs. Dayton game.
VCU will probably be a healthy home favorite in its regular-season finale, and I could see a hypothetical case for Dayton’s basketball odds, depending on where the spread market settles.
I’d rather play an under and count on VCU’s defense irrespective of the cover. I’m anticipating a total in the mid-140s.
