Drafted No. 166 overall in 2016 by the Houston Texans, defensive tackle D.J. Reader has become one of the best run-stoppers in the NFL.

D.J. Reader Salary

Reader was drafted by the Texans and later signed as a free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals. Out of Clemson, Reader has now played seven pro seasons in the NFL.

Reader signed a four-year, $53,000,000 contract with the Cincinnati Bengals, including a $16,250,000 signing bonus, $20,250,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $13,250,000.

D.J. Reader Cap Hit

The 28-year-old will carry a $15,521,324 cap hit in 2023.

D.J. Reader Potential Extension

Reader has been a significant cog of the Bengals’ defense but has had trouble staying on the field in two of the past three seasons. He’s suited up for under 10 games in two seasons during that span, and that could make some teams pause when considering his overall value to them if he tests free agency in 2024.

In saying that, there’s still room for Reader to get paid on another contract.
