Though the Eagles played well, they didn’t win without him, further highlighting his importance.

Who Is the Philadelphia Eagles’ Backup Quarterback?

Gardner Minshew is the Eagles backup quarterback.

Minshew started two games during the 2022 regular season, during which he threw for 663 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions on a 58% completion rate.

Minshew was drafted in 2019 by the Jaguars in the sixth round out of Washington State. He spent two seasons in Jacksonville then went to Philadelphia in 2021.

Ian Book is the Eagles’ third-string quarterback.

Book was drafted in 2021 out of Notre Dame by the Saints in the fourth round. He played for the Saints for one season before going to the Eagles.

The Eagles haven’t publicly made it clear who their emergency quarterback would be if Jalen Hurts, Gardner Minshew and Ian Book were to miss time.
