Kyle Whittingham’s new team might be flailing this season, but his former program is doing just fine.

Utah is charging toward a top 10 ranking, and the Utes’ game at BYU will be shortlisted for November College GameDay locations.

With a manageable second-half schedule, the discussion around Salt Lake City is increasingly centered around Utah football odds and the coming College Football Playoff.

Can the Big 12 nab two playoff bids this year, or will Utah need to win the conference championship to ensure postseason access?

Utah College Football Playoff Prediction

I am predicting Utah will make the 2026 College Football Playoff.

As the top of the Big Ten completely falls apart, and the ACC looks like a one-bid league, there is a real opportunity for the Big 12 to score multiple CFP teams with its top 2026 teams. Right now, that looks like BYU and Utah.

Even if that doesn’t come to pass, Utah will still have a typical route to the playoff by winning the conference – an imminently achievable feat for a team that ranks fifth nationally in EPA/play and eighth nationally in success rate.
