Aston Villa goes for a fourth straight Premier League win as home underdogs to Manchester City.
Villa captured a 2-1 win as underdogs on Sunday against Tottenham. It marks the fifth straight win in all competitions for Villa, which improved to 11th in the table.
City used a strong second half to dispatch Everton 2-0 on Saturday. Paired with Liverpool’s loss on Sunday, City improved to second in the league table.

Based on Aston Villa’s potential negative regression and City’s strong underlying metrics this year, my Aston Villa vs Man City prediction is the Man City Moneyline (-115).
This price flatters Villa, which has run extremely lucky this year. Entering Sunday’s fixture, Unai Emery’s side owns a +0 goal differential against a -4.2 expected goal differential.
Furthermore, at home: +0 differential vs -2 expected, per fbref.com.
City has generally looked better at home this year, but still owns a +0.38 road xGDiff per 90. That comes in +0.88 higher than Villa’s home differential.
Only once this season has Villa played a side owning a +0.7 xGDiff per 90 or higher. That came at home against Crystal Palace, which throttled Villa 3-0.
City also enters Sunday’s match with a rest advantage over Villa.
Pep Guardiola’s side plays a road Champions League match on Tuesday, while Villa plays a road Europa League match on Thursday.
That should allow City to record a similar result to the previous head-to-head meeting. In April, City won 2-1 at home with a 1.6-0.37 non-penalty post-shot xGDiff.
