Leeds vs Man United Prediction, Odds & Match Preview

Leeds United tries for a fourth straight result as a home underdog on Sunday against Manchester United. 

Daniel Farke’s team has proven a difficult out at home. The EPL newcomers managed three straight results against Chelsea, Liverpool and Crystal Palace. 

They’ll look to continue that streak against Manchester United, which has taken all three points in two of its previous three road matches.

Based on Leeds’ strong offensive record and their high-scoring matches as a home underdog, my Leeds vs Man United prediction is Over 2.5 Goals (-125). 

Very few defenses have traveled to Elland Road and performed well. At home, Leeds has created at least 1.5 expected goals in all but one fixture. 

That includes three straight where Leeds notched at least 1.6 xG. Against Crystal Palace and Chelsea, Leeds cleared two expected goals on its own. 

Leeds’ home fixtures are averaging 2.78 combined expected goals per 90 minutes. Manchester United, away from home, has averaged 3.34 combined xG per 90 minutes. 

Defensively, United has lacked consistency away from home. Even if you exclude performances and Liverpool and Manchester City, Ruben Amorim’s defense has allowed 1.43 xG per 90. 

That includes lackluster efforts at Nottingham Forest (1.9) and Fulham (1.7). 

At the same time, United should contribute to the over/under. The Red Devils rank second in expected goals and fourth in post-shot expected goals, per fbref.com. 

Away from home, only Arsenal has created more expected goals than Manchester United. A trip to Manchester City remains the only time United failed to score on the road. 

Lastly, this fixture matches a historically profitable betting system. 

Since 2022, matches featuring a home underdog and a 2.5-goal total are 82-43 to the over, assuming the home team averages between 1.2 and 1.7 goals per game.
