Tottenham vs Leeds Prediction

Given the sell-high opportunity on Tottenham’s attack and Tottenham’s misleading defensive metrics, my Leeds vs Tottenham prediction is the Total Under 2.5 Goals (-118).

Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham put forth its best attacking effort of the season on Matchday 9 against Crystal Palace. Here’s the problem – it came up a man for all but 13 minutes.

Tottenham’s 3.3 expected goals and 3.1 post-shot xG surpassed their previous best by 1.7 xG and 1.5 post-shot xG, respectively.

Even with this performance, Tottenham still created just over one xG and post-shot xG per 90 minutes.

They now travel to face a Leeds side that, outside games against the league’s best attacks, has limited scoring chances.

Of their 11.9 post-shot xG against, 5.9 came in two matches against Arsenal and Bournemouth. In every other match, Daniel Farke’s defense kept their opponent under 1.1 post-shot xG.

Leeds’ attack has largely created chances against weaker defenses, especially at home.

Of Leeds’ 5.6 post-shot xG created in four Elland Road matches, 2.7 came against Newcastle. Over the three remaining matches, Leeds failed to crack 1.2 post-shot xG.

Tottenham’s defense, meanwhile, has started to show signs of improvement. De Zerbi’s defense allowed only 7.9 post-shot xG through nine matches.

More impressive? It came after allowing 2.8 to Brentford on Matchday 1. Later, Aston Villa created a misleading 1.8 due to a temporary 11v10 situation.

In every other fixture, Tottenham kept their opponent under one post-shot xG. Paired with Leeds’ strength in defense, I predict this fixture finishes under 2.5 goals.
